Belawan | Timelinenewsidn.com,– Officials from the Class II Immigration Office TPI Belawan have detained a foreign national (WNA) from Malaysia, identified by the initial R, on the night of Monday, July 15, 2024. The 46-year-old male was found to be overstaying in Indonesia, with his residence permit having expired in November 2023. Saturday (16/7/2024)

The Head of the Class II Immigration Office TPI Belawan, Andre Darma Guntur Simanjutak, through the Head of Information Technology and Immigration Communication, Ardian P. Putro, explained that the detention followed a report from the community in Klumpang Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. The report indicated the presence of a foreign national whose residence permit had likely expired.

Upon investigation by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team of the Class II Immigration Office TPI Belawan, it was confirmed that R had indeed overstayed his permit. Ardian stated that R is suspected of violating Article 78 paragraph (3) of Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, which stipulates that foreign nationals who remain in Indonesia more than 60 days after their residence permit expires will face immigration administrative measures including deportation and blacklisting.

R is currently being detained at the Belawan Immigration Office pending further examination and deportation proceedings. He will also be placed on the immigration blacklist.

Ardian emphasized the crucial role of the community in monitoring the presence of foreign nationals and urged anyone who suspects an overstay or other immigration violation to report it to the Belawan Immigration Office.(Lie)
